Meadowgate Farm can offer a small quantity of hatching eggs from both our Ixworth and Hydrid flocks. If you require a larger order please just email us and we will see what we can do!
Egg Fertility
Obviously fertility of the eggs cannot be guaranteed and we will NOT replace any eggs that do not hatch. We however DO guarantee that the eggs that you receive are FRESH and will have been collected on the morning of packaging & posting.
Please be safe in the knowledge that our birds are strong, fit & healthy and most of all VERY HAPPY birds.
Payment
Payment by PayPal, cheque or postal order (Eggs will not be sent until payment has cleared)
Egg Packaging
Care, time and effort is taken to help ensure that your eggs arrive in the best possible condition.
We commit to collecting and sending the eggs as soon as possible after cleared payment is received (usually the day after).
Your eggs will be packaged with care and attention in polystyrene egg boxes specially designed and produced specifically for sending eggs by post.
All eggs will be sent Next Day Royal Mail Special Delivery (£6.95) - Please note all postage cost includes the cost of the polystyrene box.
Our Birds
The Ixworths
Our birds originate from the only true Ixworth blood lines in the UK, Andy Shep & The Coburn’s.
Our breeding Cock (Big Boy) is a Coburn’s and our breeding Hens are Shep’s and egg fertility/hatch rates have so far this year have been very good from both under broody hens and home incubated eggs.
MGF took on two of four blood lines that were created by a very well respected UK based rare breeder. Over a period of 5 years these blood lines have produced and put back into circulation over 800 registered TRUE pure Ixworths and helped move them away from extinction.
The eggs you will receive are from 7, hens who are free to roam around Meadowgate. They are moved and housed in a large pen for breeding purposes and even so we still let them out daily to freely roam and forage during the evening before returning voluntarily to their coop to roost.
The Hybrids
Our birds are all totally unrelated and are of mixed stock (See Hybrids page)
We are pleased to offer you a small selection "Lucky Dip" hybrid eggs.
If it's friendly birds which lay lots of lovely eggs then these are the chickens for you.
